About Harlig Financials
Harlig Financials was founded on a simple idea: financial advice should be thoughtful, independent, and centered on the client rather than products, sales incentives, or short term noise.
Financial decisions do not happen in isolation. Careers evolve, families grow, priorities change, and uncertainty is inevitable. Good advice is not about predicting every outcome. It is about making informed decisions that align with your goals, time horizon, financial circumstances, and tolerance for risk.
Harlig Financials is an independent registered investment adviser and Florida licensed insurance agency. The firm works with individuals and families across different stages of life and financial circumstances.
A Client Focused Approach
Every relationship begins with understanding what the client is trying to accomplish.
I enjoy listening, learning what matters to each client, and helping bring structure and clarity to important financial choices. Markets, portfolios, insurance products, and financial strategies are only useful when they are connected to a client’s actual needs and circumstances.
My role is not to push products or chase trends. It is to help clients evaluate their options with context, discipline, and perspective, especially when decisions feel complex or outcomes are uncertain.
Investment Philosophy
I believe disciplined investing requires both patience and adaptability.
A long term strategy can provide structure and help reduce decisions driven by temporary market noise. At the same time, long term investing does not mean that a portfolio must remain unchanged forever.
Investment views may evolve as new information becomes available. Adjustments may be appropriate when an investment thesis changes, fundamentals or valuation change, or the expected risk and return of an asset are no longer as attractive as they once were. Changes may also be appropriate when a client’s goals, time horizon, liquidity needs, or broader circumstances evolve.
The objective is not to react to every market movement. It is to remain disciplined while regularly reviewing whether portfolio holdings continue to offer an appropriate balance of risk and expected return.
About Mendel Harlig
I founded Harlig Financials out of a genuine interest in investing, financial decision making, and working directly with people.
Before starting the firm, I spent more than five years in finance, including strategic finance and capital planning at large publicly traded companies where I supported leadership on complex financial and business decisions. I wanted to apply that analytical experience more directly by helping individuals and families navigate important financial choices.
I hold a Juris Doctor, a Master of Science in Finance, and a bachelor’s degree in economics. My legal, financial, and business background has shaped an approach that emphasizes careful analysis, thoughtful decision making, and an understanding of the broader context surrounding each decision.
Through Harlig Financials, I have worked with clients across a range of ages, goals, time horizons, risk preferences, and levels of wealth. That experience has reinforced the importance of understanding each client’s circumstances rather than applying the same strategy to everyone.
I enjoy helping clients make thoughtful financial decisions and become better positioned to pursue their goals. My focus is on building lasting relationships grounded in transparency, communication, and trust.
Investment Advisory Services
Harlig Financials provides investment management and financial planning services based on each client’s needs and circumstances.
Investment strategies consider the client’s objectives, time horizon, liquidity needs, risk tolerance, relevant tax considerations, and broader financial situation. Client assets are held with Charles Schwab, an independent third party custodian.
Insurance Planning
Harlig Financials also assists with life insurance, disability income insurance, long term care insurance, and annuities.
Insurance may be addressed on a standalone basis or as part of a broader financial strategy. An investment advisory relationship is not required to receive insurance assistance.
Insurance services are separate from investment advisory services and may involve commissions. Additional information is available on the Insurance and Disclosure and Legal pages.
